Dr. J. David Farmer named Director of Exhibitions

As of July 1, 2009, Dr. J. David Farmer re-joined the Dahesh Museum of Art to fill the position of Director of Exhibitions.

As some of you may recall, Dr. Farmer served as Dahesh Museum of Art's founding Director from 1994 until 2002, when he moved to Maine to begin his retirement. Since then he has been busy teaching art history, working on civic projects, and visiting museums around the world. This new freedom meant he was available this past spring to curate the well-received exhibition In Pursuit of the Exotic with our partners at Syracuse University. Currently, he is developing the next collaborative exhibition at Lubin House in New York City, scheduled for February 2010.

Dr. Farmer will promote, participate in, and oversee scholarly research based on the Dahesh Collection; supervise the preparation of publications; interface with institutions interested in borrowing individual artworks or the Museum's traveling exhibitions; work with guest curators to develop original exhibitions; propose new exhibitions based on works in the Collection, and more. We are delighted to work with him again and cannot imagine a more suitable museum professional to play this role. To reach Dr. Farmer please write to dfarmer@nulldaheshmuseum.org
