Lanson won the coveted Prix de Romecompetition with his plaster Jason enlevant la Toison d’Or (Paris, École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux Arts). Susse cast the artist’s magnum opus in three sizes (100, 75, and 50 cm) of which this is the largest. The foundry considered the Jason to be one of its most distinguished casts.
